I don't get why people complain so much about Elective Monarchy and try to get rid of it. Maybe it's because they're used to Crusader Kings 2, but in EU4, you don't control a dynasty, you control a nation, and as such Elective Monarchy is one of the best ways to get PUs on other nations. They'll be a monarchy, have your dynasty and no heir when they do so, offering the opportunity to quickly claim their throne and wage war against them. e.

A few years in, my government changes to an elective monarchy, which I'm cool with and knew about beforehand. However, I do have a question or two about how it works, and the EUIV wiki doesn't seem to have been updated yet.
